This easy Homemade Maple Syrup is perfect for all your breakfast foods, and can be prepared in under 20 minutes!
I absolutely love pancakes and waffles, they are probably in my top five favorite foods in general. However, in my opinion, they are not complete unless they are slathered in butter and drowned in maple syrup.
This homemade maple syrup elevates these foods to the next level, and pairs great with my hit Pumpkin Butterscotch Pancakes and Homemade Pancake Mix.

🧾 Ingredients Needed
Below are the necessary ingredients and notes on them.
- Dark Brown Sugar – If you don’t have it on hand, you can add molasses to plain white sugar for a substitute. See how with this homemade brown sugar recipe.
- Granulated Sugar – Opt for white granulated sugar
- Maple Extract – This will give the delicious maple flavor to the syrup. Try to use the real thing instead of an imitation extract for a stronger maple flavor.
📌 Be sure to see the recipe card below for the full ingredients list with quantities and step-by-step instructions!
🔁 Variations
- Light Brown Sugar – You can use light brown sugar instead of dark for a less heavy syrup, or if you don’t have dark brown sugar available.
- Add Vanilla Extract – Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the syrup to infuse it with extra flavor.
🥣 How to Make
- Bring water to a boil.
- Add granulated sugar and stir until fully dissolved.
- Add dark brown sugar and stir until fully dissolved.
- Reduce the heat and stir until it simmers, let simmer for 5 minutes.
- For a thicker syrup, continue to simmer for 10 more minutes. Let cool to thicken.
- Enjoy right away or store in an air-tight jar.
⭐ Pro Tips ⭐
- Be sure that you’re folding the wrapper of the eggroll well so that it’s sealed. If not, the leftover goodness just might leak out while it’s being fried.
- I always put the eggrolls seam side down in the air fryer basket to start cooking and then flip it according to the printable directions on the recipe card below.
- If you don’t have or want to use an air fryer, you can make these in the oven. Just bake on a parchment lined baking sheet at 350° F for approximately 15 minutes (turning once) or until browned.
