This Cranberry Compote with Brie Appetizer Recipe is a beautiful and delicious way to start any dinner party or get-together. Its festive color and seasonal flavor makes it perfect for the holidays.

Sometimes the most “fancy” looking, beautiful and delicious party appetizers can actually be easy to make.
Although there are several steps in making this amazing brie appetizer topped with cranberry compote, none of them are hard and they don’t take long to do either.
Cranberry appetizers like this one are perfect for Thanksgiving (the #1 day for cranberry sauce and cranberries in general), but also for Valentine’s Day, thanks to the pretty red color, date night, or any dinner party.
It’s a killer appetizer your dinner guests will love!
This recipe starts with fresh cranberries that you cook down to make a beautiful red compote. After that, it’s a simple matter of assembling and warming in the oven.
You can make the cranberry compote part of this recipe ahead of time and then, just before serving, slice your bread and add the brie, bake and top with your cranberry mixture.
Besides the cranberries, cheese is an essential part of this dish. We love it with soft, melty brie, but you can choose to use another cheese if you like.
One option is to turn this into a cranberry goat cheese appetizer by replacing the brie with a slice of goat cheese instead. Both are delicious!
Whether you’re planning a big holiday bash or a small dinner with friends, this easy Cranberry Compote with Brie appetizer recipe will add something special to your gathering.

Cranberry Compote with Brie Appetizer Recipe
Ingredients:
1 small wheel Brie Cheese
½ Cup Cranberries, fresh, chopped very fine
1 Orange – zested and juiced
3 Tbsp Maple syrup
1 tsp cornstarch
¼ C water
1 Baguette, small
How to Make Cranberry Compote with Brie:
1. In a small pot, combine cranberries, and the orange juice and zest. Bring to a simmer. Add maple syrup and continue to simmer.
2. In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch and water until smooth. Spoon by teaspoonful into the cranberry mixture, stirring after each spoonful. Allow to thicken after each addition until liquid in the compote thickens and becomes syrupy. Cool.
3. Slice the baguette into ¼ inch slices
4. Slice the brie cheese with a sharp knife into ¼ inch slices that fit the size of the baguette toasts. Don’t be daunted by the rind of the cheese, it’s completely edible.
5. Arrange baguette slices with cheese onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
6. Bake at 350 for approximately 5 – 8 minutes or until the cheese has softened and melted slightly
7. Remove from oven and finish toasts with a dollop of the cranberry compote
8 . Serve warm or room temperature
9. Enjoy!
