I’ve always wanted to be able to make egg rolls but could never make it happen. The adding of the ingredients and rolling it together was not my cup of tea.
But then I discovered that there was an easier way to create that flavor and taste with so much less work!
All I had to do was take all the egg roll ingredients that I loved and add them directly to a bowl. So good and so simple!
This egg roll in a bowl recipe calls for instant rice noodles and sausage, two of my favorite things. Once you cook up the sausage, you’re literally almost done with the recipe!
Don’t forget that you can easily change up the flavors of this recipe, too. The more that you want to make it spicy and add in other ingredients, you can totally do so!
If you think you’ll miss out on the crunch from traditional egg rolls, you can add that to your bowl by topping it with wonton strips.
I love to dip egg rolls in hot mustard sauce or a mixture of soy sauce and wasabi so don’t forget to add some of that to the bowl as well if that’s the way you like to eat yours.
If duck sauce or sweet and sour sauce is what you like to use to dip, you can use that too as a “dressing”.

How To Make A Deconstructed Egg Bowl
The next time that you’re craving that egg roll flavoring, try making this yummy recipe right at home!
In a bowl, mix your dry seasonings into your sausage.
Preheat a pan on medium-high and drizzle in your avocado oil once heated. Add in the sausage mixture and cook it through, crumbling it along the way.
Toss in your veggies and stir everything to combine until soft. Drizzle in your sesame oil and soy sauce then set aside.
On a separate burner, in a pot, bring some water up to the boil and put in your instant rice noodles following the package directions.
Once done, drain the noodles and then transfer them into the pan with your veggies and sausage and incorporate everything together.
Serve and sprinkle with green onion.
Tips For Making An Egg Roll Bowl
- If you don’t have pork sausage, you could use any kind of ground meat of your preference, or just plain ground pork. However, if you do go with plain ground meat, be sure to add in 1 tsp salt.
- You can also use olive oil if you don’t have avocado oil on hand.
- If you like garlic, an addition of garlic powder would be a nice touch as well, or 1 tbsp of minced garlic.
What is a simple tip for shredding the cabbage?
You can either shred it by chopping it by hand OR do what I do and buy coleslaw in a bag and use it! This saves so much time!

You bet! Just add in spicy sausage and give this recipe a quick kick! You can also add in crushed red peppers as well.
