With just a few slices and a couple of festive touches, everyday hot dogs suddenly look like little edible evergreens ready to brighten up your holiday table!

What I love most about these Hot Dog Christmas Tree Appetizers is how these little trees bring that playful, nostalgic holiday feeling right to the appetizer spread. They remind me of the kind of crafts we used to make as kids: simple, fun, and full of personality. It's that same spirit, but in snack form!
And let's be honest here! Everyone secretly loves a themed holiday snack, especially when it's this easy and cute. Plus, they pair wonderfully with other Christmas party treats like my Christmas Coal with Oreos, which makes a perfect sweet counterpart!

🧾 Ingredients Needed

- uncured hot dogs

- english cucumber
- bamboo skewers
📌 Be sure to see the recipe card below for the full ingredients list with quantities and step-by-step instructions!
🔁 Variations
- Use a mini cookie cutter to cut tiny stars out of cheddar cheese for the top instead of cherry tomatoes. Instant cheese stars!
- Swap the hot dogs for sliced zucchini or roasted carrots for a lighter, veggie-forward version.
- Use jalapeño hot dogs or sprinkle with red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
- Use cocktail sausages instead of full-size hot dogs for bite-sized party snacks! Easy to munch, but still as delicious.
🥣 How to Make

STEP ONE: Stack 4 hot dogs horizontally in a row on a cutting board. Using a sharp knife, slice the hot dogs diagonally in half.

STEP TWO: Make two additional diagonal cuts to create two Christmas trees. One will be upside down.

STEP THREE: Slice the English cucumber longways, ensuring it's a thick enough cut to allow a skewer to go through. Use the cucumber slice to cut Christmas tree stumps (about 1.5 inches each).

STEP FOUR: Add an English cucumber stump to a bamboo skewer, followed by the hot dog-shaped Christmas tree. Be sure to start with the bottom (longest) hot dog cut and ensure the angled ends are slanted down to create the Christmas tree shape. Complete the Christmas tree with a cherry tomato on top. Repeat this process until all Christmas trees are assembled.
⭐ Pro Tips ⭐
- If you desire shorter skewers as shown in the photos, use sharp scissors to trim them, leaving just a few inches under the tree.
- Be sure to cook the hot dogs until they are steaming hot before assembling. Even though they are fully cooked, they can still contain listeria and result in illness if eaten straight from the packaging.
- Chill the cucumber first, as it makes slicing firmer and cleaner.
- Use a sharp serrated knife when cutting the hot dogs to keep the tree edges neat!
- Press the hot dog pieces tightly together on the skewer to maintain the tree shape’s stability.
- Dry the cherry tomatoes before skewering so they don't slip off.
- Assemble just before serving to keep the cucumbers crisp and fresh.
