You will impress everyone when you bring this Candy Cane Christmas Charcuterie Board to your next holiday party. Whether you are hosting or going to a holiday get-together, this simple but elegant recipe is a winner!
What Is A Charcuterie Board?
A traditional Charcuterie board or plate is an attractive display of various high-quality cured meats. Some favorites include prosciutto, hard salami, pepperoni, Soppressata, which is a dry salami and spicy salami.
In recent years, you will find not just meats but cheeses, fruits, jellies, jams, olives, nuts, and crackers or bread. Some favorite cheeses include soft cheeses like brie, feta, Camembert, Havarti, and mozzarella. For hard cheese ideas, you can’t go wrong with a good smoked gouda, cheddar, Gruyere, or Asiago.
Why A Homemade Charcuterie Board?
There are so many great reasons to feature a Charcuterie Board at your next party. When paired properly, your guests are offered flavors that both contrast and complement one another. Because the foods offer a variety of textures and colors, they are as beautiful to look at as they are to eat.
To expand on how and where to serve your next Charcuterie Board, you just need to think outside the box..or table as it were? For an outdoor concert I recently went to, I separated all the elements of my Charcuterie Board into airtight containers.
Once we arrived at the venue, we were able to unpack and arrange everything on a large cutting board and then placed it on a portable table. It was a huge hit!
What you need to make your Candy Cane Christmas Charcuterie board:
- pepperoni
- salami
- fresh mozzarella cheese
- cherry tomatoes, sliced into rounds
- fresh basil leaves
How to put together your holiday Charcuterie board:
First, use a large charcuterie board. The candy cane needs room to shape out.
Sliced cherry tomatoes and remove the end. Layer salami, pepperoni, then mozzarella cheese. Repeat process and shape into a candy cane.
Place tomatoes along the candy cane shape as decoration. Fill with basil leaves for color. Serve with crackers and/or bread, which can either be placed around the edges of the board or in a basket next to it..
If you’re serving a larger crowd, you can double up on the quantities at each section of the candy cane for a thicker “pile”.
