Mardi Gras is almost here! One of our favorite ways to celebrate ANY holiday is with food and drink and Mardi Gras is not exception! To make things sweet, we have this delicious coffee-based Mardi Gras recipe.
What is a Frappuccino?
A Frappuccino is a blended iced coffee beverage that was created and has since been trademarked by Starbucks. The drink has a coffee or cream base that is blended with ice. A Frappuccino can be made with regular coffee or you can order up a decaf Frappuccino too!.
You can purchase your custom-made Frappuccino from your local Starbucks. If you don’t have a Starbucks nearby, you can also buy it in the bottle at the grocery, retail, and convenience stores everywhere.

Can You Add Cold Brew Coffee to Your Frappuccino?
Yes, you absolutely can add cold brew coffee to your Frappuccino drink recipe. As a matter of fact, by adding cold brew coffee, you get a bit less acidity. This means you may get a milder taste with the cold brew compared with your hot brewed coffee!
What Can You Add to a Frappuccino?
Because a Frappuccino is typically a customized drink from Starbucks, the combinations of flavors are endless. You can add flavored syrups, spices, a variety of chocolates and so much more!
What is a King Cake?
A traditional King Cake is a frosted cake, usually made with brioche dough. This well-known Mardi Gras cake was originally filled with a frangipane, which is a sweet cream made from almonds, butter sugar, and eggs. Today you can find them filled with a combination of cinnamon, cream cheese, fruits, and/or chocolate.
What Makes a King Cake Unique?
Where the King Cake gets its personality is the toppings. The traditional colors of Mardi Gras are gold, green, and purple. Most King Cake Recipes for Mardi Gras, especially a New Orleans King Cake will be decorated in these colors.
Gold is known to associate with power, green with faith, and purple with justice. A King cake isn’t official if it doesn’t have a tiny, plastic baby Jesus hidden inside. The folks from New Orleans will tell you the person who gets the slice of King Cake with the baby is said to have good luck for a year.
King Cake Frappuccino Recipe
King Cake Frap Ingredients:
- espresso
- milk
- ice
- king cake
- 5 purple candy pearls
- whipped topping
How to make King Cake Frappuccino:
Step 1: Fill a glass with milk and ice and add to your blender.
Step 2: Brew one scoop of espresso and pour into a blender with the milk and ice. Blend well.
Step 3: Add two chunks of king cake. Blend well. If too thick add a small amount of milk and blend.
Step 4: Top with whipped topping, the crumbled king cake, and purple candy pearls.

This King Cake Frappuccino is a sweet way to start off Mardi Gras! This blend of rich espresso and a sweet King Cake will make you want to celebrate!
Ingredients
- 1 shot espresso
- 1 1/3 cups milk; maybe more
- 2 cups ice
- 2 cut pieces of king cake; additional for topping
- 5 purple candy pearls
- whipped topping for topping
Instructions
- Brew one scoop of espresso.
- Pour into blender with milk and ice. Blend well.
- Add about 1 cup of king cake. Blend well.
- If too thick, add a small amount of milk and blend.
- Top with whipped topping, crumbled king cake, and purple candy pearls.
