Make Your Own Bisquick Mix to easily make biscuits, pancakes, waffles, etc. and spend less!
It’s convenient to have a box of Bisquick baking mix handy to make a quick batch of biscuits, pancakes, waffles, etc.
But, you can still have that convenience and spend LESS money by making your own mix!
It only takes a few minutes to make the original mix (this recipe makes 12 1/2 cups) and then using it is just as quick and easy as using the box of Bisquick.
Homemade Bisquick Recipe
Copycat Bisquick Ingredients:
10 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
4 tsp. salt
2 cups shortening
How to make your own Bisquick mix:
Mix first four ingredients in a large bowl (whisking well).
With two forks, or a pastry cutter if you have one, cut the shortening into the mixture until it forms coarse crumbs.
Mix can be stored in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
You can use this Bisquick alternative to make pancakes, waffles, biscuits and more.

Using Homemade Bisquick:
To make pancakes, use two cups of this mix, 1 cup milk and two eggs. Mix and cook on griddle.
To make Bisquick biscuits, use 2 1/4 cups mix and 2/3 cup milk, mixed into a soft dough. Knead dough 12 times, roll out to 1/2″ thick and cut with biscuit cutter (Or use the bottom of a glass.) Bake at 450 for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
How to store Homemade Bisquick Mix:
Store your homemade biscuit mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one year.

can you freeze homemade bisquick?

Yes. You can freeze it, but it should be brought back to room temperature before using.
