I'm a big bread lover and when I visit Olive Garden my very favorite things to eat are the salad and the BREADSTICKS! They are sooooo yummy.

This recipe only calls for a few simple ingredients and no special equipment. You will be a breadstick-making pro in no time!

Copycat Olive Garden Breadstick Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
4-5 Cups of flour
1 ½ cups of warm water
2 Tablespoons of sugar
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 Tablespoon of yeast
1 Tablespoon of salt
Topping
3 Tablespoons of melted butter
Sea Salt
1 Teaspoon of garlic powder
How to Make Olive Garden Breadsticks:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl pour in water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 10 minutes.
Mix in salt, olive oil and 2 cups of flour until thoroughly mixed.
Add in the rest of the flour while continuously mixing until dough comes off the side of the bowl clean.
Cover and let the dough rise for an 30 minutes.
Roll dough into one long tube (about ¾ inch in diameter)
Cut dough tube in 7-8 inch pieces
Place dough sticks on sprayed (cooking oil spray) baking sheetcookie sheets and let sit for 15 mins
Brush dough sticks with ½ of the melted butter and sprinkle with salt
Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden brown
Mix remaining butter and garlic powder and brush on top of breadsticks.
YIELDS: approximately 16 breadsticks

Can you replace the olive oil with vegetable oil instead?

We haven’t tried it with vegetable oil. You could give it a try – I would think it would work but maybe just slightly change the flavor.

Can you please help me figure out what I did wrong. I suspect it’s because I used bread flour. These still turned out very good but they didn’t look like Olive garden ones, which yours did, and they were crunchy on the bottom which Olive garden ones aren’t. I’m a new baker so I’m not very good at this. Thank you for the recipe and any tips.
