This Tuna Tomato Dippers Recipe makes a healthy and delicious protein-packed snack for after school or a go-to party appetizer.
So, we’re already a few weeks or more into the school year. Are your kids already bored with the great snack ideas you came up with at the beginning of the year?
A lot of moms I know start the school year with a bang and go all out with the cute and clever after-school snacks using cookie cutters, special containers or lots of careful arrangement to form foods into animal designs.
By the time week 3 or 4 rolls around, it starts looking like time to get back to basics and find some afterschool snacks that are still fun and delicious, but a bit easier to make.
If you’re looking for easy-to-make, this Tuna Tomato Dippers recipe is something you can whip up in just a few minutes and you can even double the batch to make enough to store in the refrigerator for a day or two and that way conquer more than one days’ worth of snacking.
The other great thing about this recipe is that it’s packed with the lean protein and healthy fat in tuna to help refuel your kids after a long school day. The tomatoes also give it an added boost of nutrition.
To serve our snack, I used pita chips from a bag, but if you want to make your snack a bit healthier, you can use our recipe for homemade pita chips, and make your own using whole wheat pitas.
Another note is that if you can find them, the petite diced tomatoes work best for this recipe because they are smaller. I also like the kind with garlic and onion already added.
Tuna Tomato Dippers Recipe
Ingredients:
1 can chunk white albacore tuna in Water
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
1 Tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
3/4 tsp garlic salt
dash of black pepper
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together and serve with pita chips. You can’t get much easier than that!
Be sure to store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. If you want to use up leftovers in a hurry, you can add in a little mayonnaise and spread on bread for a zesty tuna fish sandwich lunch.

That does sound good! I don’t pack my kids fish for lunch out of fear of how it will hold up after hours. But this is a great after-school snack.

I’ve always loved tuna fish but as an adult I really love eating it just like this instead of the traditional way on a sandwich. I’m dying to check out your recipe for the pita chips. Going there next….
