On Sunday I had the HUGE thrill of attending the STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI press event. As if getting to see the star-studded panel wasn’t enough, we also had lots of other super fun Jedi-related experiences during the event. Guess, what? I took LOTS of pictures! Let me show you a bit of what the event was like.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi Press Junket Experience
Character Costume Vignettes:
The costumes play a big part in making the characters distinct and memorable and several of the actual costumes used during filming were on display. Check out these Rey and Kylo Ren costumes!
Tech Experiences:
With the space age setting of Star Wars, it only makes sense that there were tech experiences on hand. We had a chance to try out an X-Lab Virtual Reality Demo and learned more about the new Movies Anywhere in their lounge. With Movies Anywhere, you can log into their free app, connect your digital retailer accounts, and find the movies you’ve purchased (from many different places), all in one fun, functional place! Super convenient!
BB-8, BB-9E and Praetorian Guards Photo Opps:
One of my favorite parts of any event is the photo opps! We had lots of them at with the adorable (can a First Order droid still be considered adorable?) droids BB-8 and the new BB-9E, as well as with the Praetorian Guards. I admit those guards freaked me out a bit!
littleBits Droid Inventor Kit:
We are already fans of littleBits so I was excited to see the If you’re not familiar with littleBits, they make fun and easy-to-use technology kits that let kids (and adults!) get creative. The kits are made up of electronic building blocks that are color-coded, magnetic, and interchangeable in tons of different ways to make just about anything kids can dream up. the littleBits Droid Inventor Kit comes with everything needed to create your very own Droid!
Disney Parks – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Sketches
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is currently under construction at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, scheduled to open in 2019. At the junket, we saw sketching of the forthcoming lands that will feature two major attractions that will put guests right in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance! I can’t wait to visit once it opens!
Director Rian Johnson’s On-set Photography Display
Also on display, was some of the on-set photography of The Last Jedi director, Rian Johnson. These black and white photos capture some behind the scenes looks at what went into the making of the film.
Ample Hills Ice Cream Sampling
Ice cream makes any event better, am I right?!? That was definitely the case with Ample Hills Creamery’s three limited-edition flavors inspired by the heroes, villains, and enduring themes of Star Wars. My favorite is First Order, with a salted dark chocolate ice cream to represent relentless villainy, with cocoa powder, bittersweet chocolate and a dash of powerful espresso reinforcing the dark side. It’s SO GOOD! The other flavors, Resistance and The Force are definitely close runner-ups!
Phillips Product Display
This display comes just in time for planning some gifts for the Star Wars loving guys on the shopping list. Phillips has launched five new special edition Star Wars inspired shavers! They combine premium cutting-edge technology with never-before-seen design features, emulating some of our favorite Star Wars characters. I have never seen a shaver look so awesome.
T-Shirt Making Station
My hubby was the lucky recipient of the T-Shirt I made at the junket. It was so cool to see the screen printers make each shirt with layers of ink. I chose his favorite, the Millenium Falcon!
Disney Consumer Products Display
With every new Star Wars movie comes some awesome new products with everything from toys to clothes to books to kitchenware. We had an in-person look at lots of them close up. There are so many fun things! Since we’re at the height of holiday shopping season, here is a round-up of some of the new products you can get for all of the Star Wars fans on your holiday shopping list!
