Where are my Guardians of the Galaxy fans? We LOVED this movie in the theater and are happy to know that the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital HD release is tomorrow, December 9th – just in time for the holidays! I’m excited to see all the cool extras on this one – they’re some good ones! They include an exclusive character O-sleeve, exclusive music zinepack, 64-page magazine with cast and crew interviews, exclusive behind-the-scenes photos and trivia PLUS a custom “cassette” laptop decal. Not only is the movie with all the extras available for holiday gift giving, but so are lots of fun Guardians of the Galaxy toys, the Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack and more.
I headed to Walmart to check out the fun Guardians of the Galaxy things I could find. There were a number of choices in the toy aisle. I grabbed some small Guardians of the Galaxy action figures, the super cool Battle FX Star-Lord (which lights up and has the movie voice) and then, my hubby’s favorite, the Big Blastin’ Rocket Raccoon. This guy is so fun! You can see for yourself in our video. (Yes, it’s still in the box because hubby refuses to remove any of this “cool” toys from the boxes – you know the “saving them in mint condition” and all!)
There is also a special offer at Walmart! You will receive a $5 gift card if you buy any of the Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes 2.0 Edition Guardians of the Galaxy figures: Groot, Drax, or Rocket Racoon!
To make Guardians of the Galaxy gifts even more special, we created a fun Sony Walkman gift box that looks a bit like the one that Peter Quill (Star-Lord) uses to play his Awesome Mix Tape. We used the actual Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix, Vol. 1 Soundtrack to peek through the “window” on the walkman. To make the rest of the box, we have this handy dandy graphics template to cut out and use to decorate.
Peter Quill’s Sony Walkman Gift Box
Supplies Needed:
Cardboard Box
Blue Construction Paper
Aluminum Foil
Sony Walkman Graphics Template
Scissors
Black Marker
Glue Stick
Tissue Paper
Tape
Directions:
Print out the Sony Walkman Graphics Template and cut out all the letters. (You will be using the back/white side.)
Cut a whole in the construction paper paper on the center left side, just slightly larger than the cassette tape on the CD case. (Use your case as a guide.)
Use a black marker to draw a line near the top of the blue paper.
Fold the aluminum in half, to make a nice clean edge, and glue on the right side of the paper.
Use the glue stick to affix the letters and arrow to your paper.
Put your gift inside your box and fill with tissue paper until nearly full.
Place CD case on top of tissue paper under area of cassette window cutout. Cut away any pieces of box flaps that will block view of the CD.
Close box and tape shut.
Place blue paper on top of box and tape into place, making sure CD case is properly aligned in window. use additional pieces of blue paper to cover sides of box.
