Mix together the salt, cumin powder, cayenne pepper powder, black pepper, garlic powder and onion powder in a small bowl.
Sprinkle the spice mix into the ground beef and mix until completely combined.
In a separate bowl, mix together the diced onion, cheese, garlic and jalapeño and set aside.
Take a handful of the beef and form it into a thin patty and two times the size of the burger buns that you will be using, set it down and add a spoonful of the cheese mix to the center of the patty. Form another patty and place it on top and seal the outer edges. Remove any excess meat.
Repeat the process until you have used all of the beef.
Heat a large frying pan over medium heat and add the olive oil to the pan.
Cook the patties on each side until they reach your desired doneness. (I cook mine a little over as I like a nice char.)
Drain the excess oil from the burgers over a plate with a paper towel on it.
To assemble the burgers, spread the cream cheese spread over the burger bun, then add a slice of tomato, a piece or two of lettuce, the burger patty, condiments, caramelized onions and the top bun.
