Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1-1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 qts 16 cups warm popped corn (Be sure to use white corn, not yellow.)
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup blue M&Ms
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup red M&Ms

Instructions

  • Bring first 5 ingredients to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
  • Continue cooking over low heat without stirring, until mixture reaches hard ball stage (put a few drops in ice-cold water and it will harden quickly) or 268 degrees on a candy thermometer.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Pour over warm popcorn.
  • Divide popcorn in two batches.
  • Add red M&Ms to one batch and add the blue M&Ms to the other. Or if you prefer you can add both red and blue to all of them.
  • Wet hands and form into balls.

Notes

You may want to put a thin film of butter on your hands so the popcorn doesn't stick.
