Ingredients

  • 2 medium yellow onions or 1 very large onion
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 oz light cream cheese room temperature
  • 8 oz fat free Greek yogurt
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Cut the onions in half and then slice very thinly. Dice up the slices (it’s ok if there are some larger pieces of onion).
  • Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat until butter is melted.
  • Add in onions and cook until starting to brown.
  • Add in garlic and cook for a minute.
  • Add in bouillon cubes, sauces, oregano, water and a bit of black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat to cool for a few minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, combine onion mixture, cream cheese and yogurt.
  • Add salt to season as necessary.
  • Chill for at least an hour before serving.

Notes

The dip tastes best when it is refrigerated for a few hours to allow the flavors to fully meld.
