What To Do When There’s No Bread for Sandwiches

Last week I was all set to make ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch when I realized there were only two slices of bread left in the house. I really wanted to use the ham and cheese and didn't know what else to do with it, so I turned it into ham and cheese biscuits.

To make them, just prepare Bisquick or other baking mix according to package directions (or use my super easy biscuit recipe here), chop up a few slices of ham and a couple slices of cheese and mix into the biscuit batter. The biscuits will most likely need to bake about 5 minutes longer than called for in the recipe.

They turned out very yummy!

Great idea! I have used Tortillas in place of bread before.

Good idea! We usually fall back to crackers when we have no bread. It works for some things but not everything.

What a great idea to make biscuits with it. I often use tortillas (always tend to have those in the freezer), crackers or just wrap the ham around the cheese and secure with a toothpick -the kids think this is a SPECIAL treat!

Great idea. The bread molded at our house last week and I was wondering what to do until I could get to the store! Biscuits are a great idea.
