Lake Placid, New York
The fall colors of the Adirondack Mountains in Lake Placid, NY are a sight you don’t want to miss. The Olympic Trail Scenic Byway runs through Lake Placid and is filled with trees like beech, birch, red maples, silver maples, oaks and aspen. The 170-mile byway won a silver medal from Travel and Leisure for autumn foliage. Fall foliage starts peaking the last two weeks of September.
Stowe, Vermont
Stowe, VT is well-known for its sugar maple trees that showcase beautiful colors like scarlet, orange and gold. The foliage in Stowe can be seen throughout the Green Mountains and Worcester Mountains. Stowe, VT is the home to the Trapp Family Lodge. The best time to see the foliage here is from the end of September to the middle part of October.
Whitefish, Montana
There is really nothing more beautiful than the stunning mountains that frame Whitefish. Whitefish is the gateway to Glacier National Park. The fall foliage season in this area features dark evergreens and golden aspen trees.
Aspen, Colorado
Aspen, CO fall foliage peaks in the latter part of September. Aspen is named after the aspen trees, which are known for changing into a beautiful golden color. The best foliage views in Aspen are along Castle Creek Road, the Maroon Bells and Cathedral Lake.
Arcadia National Park, Maine
The beauty of Maine fall foliage is especially evident in Arcadia National Park. The park features thousands of acres of beautiful colors during foliage season.
Flagstaff, Arizona
Flagstaff, AZ is known as the autumn capital of Arizona. Between the sunshine, crisp air and golden leaves, it is a must-see fall foliage spot.

I love all of the colors of fall. We like to take a drive through our forest preserves here in Illinois and see all of the beautiful fall colors that way.

Living in Central Maine I have a great view of the foliage, and the trees are just starting to change as it is now getting cooler at night time. I was in Northern Maine near the Canadian border a few days ago working and the trees are a little better up there but we still have a few more weeks to go until peak time for viewing up there.
