The weather is finally starting to warm up and that means it is almost time for all of our favorite summer foods. For many of us that includes BBQ, whether it's made on the grill or, like I like to make it, BBQ favorites in the slow cooker. There is one common thread with all of these delicious foods – they can be messy!! Sometimes I think there is a direct correlation between how messy a food is and how amazing it tastes!!
That is definitely the case with this Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Pork Recipe. It's super easy to make, and super delicious, but also can be super messy. That's why I was glad I had just headed to Walmart to pick up Wet-Nap products that kept things clean both during meal prep AND while we enjoyed our meal!
For this recipe I like to make my own sauce because it is SO good, but if you want to take a shortcut, you can use your favorite bottled sauce in place of the homemade. (But the homemade is so easy – I highly recommend it!
Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Pork Recipe
2 pounds boneless pork sirloin roast
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cups ketchup
2 Tbsp red wine vinegar
1 1/2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp ground mustard
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
Optional: dash each of basil, thyme, oregano
Place pork in bottom of slow cooker. In a medium bowl, mix all remaining ingredients. Pour sauce over pork. Cook in slow cooker for 3-4 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low. (I like to turn once or twice while cooking, but it's not necessary.) Use two forks to shred the meat. Mix pork and sauce together again. Let cook an additional 15 minutes. (If sauce is too runny, add in 1 Tbsp corn starch, stir, and let cook an additional 10 minutes.) Serve on buns.
