I am very happy to introduce a guest reviewer to tell you all about the new 500GB Seagate FreeAgent Go Chrome SE. Mario is my IT team and tech support guy – a real lifesaver at times! He also happens to be my husband! I appreciate his help for some of my other tech products reviews, but this one is all his:
First and foremost, it's not a question of if your hard drive will fail, but more of a question of WHEN? If we all knew the answer to when, we would never be worried about our precious data and we would deal with it when the approaching demise of our computer is at hand. Since we all aren’t descendants of Nostradamus, we all have to play the guessing game. I hate that game!! I prefer to keep things that are important to me backed up.
Hi. This is the techie husband who, if you recall, has to manage the network for all the photos, music, and movies that have been taking tons and tons of space on our home network. We reviewed the 320GB FreeAgent Go last winter and it helped us out so much! If you don’t remember that review/giveaway here is a link to it.
We now have the 500 GB Special Edition Chrome Trim FreeAgent Go portable hard drive and it comes with a very handy Piano Black Desktop docking station. Even though you can purchase a separate docking station for other FreeAgent Go drives, having a stylish docking station was a real nice addition to the included packaging, making it a very nice complete deal. The docking station makes it easy to keep a nice clean work area – all you have to do is connect two USB 2.0 connectors (which are just one cable) to your computer (one for power and one for data transferring) and you’re done with the hard part!!!! After that, just put the hard drive on the docking station and the cool lights on the hard drive light up and it's ready to go! Furthermore!! It’s compatible with my 320GB FreeAgent Go. So, now all I have to do is swap them out depending on my needs.
Sometimes I may want to use both hard drives at the same time. No problem!! The Seagate Manager software makes it easy to use both at the same time. You can schedule backups for your main computer and for either drive.
Want to take your 500 GB FreeAgent Go along with your laptop? Just use the supplied USB 2.0 cable and you’re ready to go. And don’t worry about others seeing what important docs are on your portable hard drive. You can have your information encrypted using the included Seagate Manager software. It’s great to have peace of mind.
So if you are like me and you like digitally storing movies, music, photos and important docs on a fully functional, speedy, stylish, compact drive, go with the 500 GB Special Edition Chrome Trim FreeAgent Go portable hard drive.
