I have a quickie tip this week for Works for Me Wednesday. I hate having to throw out food when there are just bits of pieces left. So, what I do is keep a sealed plastic container in my freezer. Any time we finish dinner and there are just a few peas or a few kernels of corn etc. left in the bottom of the veggie bowl, rather than cleaning out the bowl into the garbage, I clean it out into the plastic container. Once the container gets full I use the hodge podge of vegetables to make a pot of soup or I use it in fried rice.
We do a similar thing with bread odds and ends. I have to admit we tend to leave the crust in the bag of bread and sometimes don't get to the heels on a loaf of french bread. So, before those start getting moldy, I put them in a ziploc bag in the freezer. This bread is great for turning into bread crumbs (for meatloaf, breading, etc.) or to use in bread pudding.

The “soup pot” tip is such a great one! I’m glad to see there are so many more people doing this instead of wasting food.

What a great tip! I especially love the idea of saving pieces of bread for bread crumbs. Thanks for sharing!
