If you want to treat your household pets right this holiday season, get them a Petmate Deluxe Fresh Flow Pet Fountain. We purchased this fountain approximately two years ago. One of our three cats, Peanut, (Jinxy's brother) was diagnosed with urinary tract problems to the extent that they required surgery. One of the things the vet suggested to prevent this from happening again in the future was to encourage him to drink more water. To do this, we purchased the fountain.
All pets benefit from increased water intake and fresh, flowing water is the best way to encourage it. The Petmate Fresh Flow Pet Fountain has a filter to clean the water and a pump that continually circulates it making sure that it is fresh and oxygenated. Our cats just LOVE this. They like to watch the water coming out of the top of the fountain and like to drink the water right from that spot. Our dog is not impressed with the fountain, but happily drinks from the basin.
Unlike many pet “inventions”, I have not had any major problems in the 2 years I have owned it. We did have a problem at one point with the water overflowing, but we tracked the source of the problem as being a faulty replacement filter, which the company gladly replaced at no charge. (They even sent us an extra.) The unit does need to be cleaned regularly and since we have a lot of lime in our water, it tends to leave a residue on the plastic. A good scrubbing with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser gets most of it off.
The best part is that even though it is recommended for multiple cats or small dogs, it can actually be used for big dogs as well. The fountain is shared by our 3 cats and German Shepherd with no problems – we just have to fill it more often.
You can see/purchase this product on Amazon, where it is also available in other sizes and colors.

I was ready to toss my water fountain. The one of the little water propeller hands broke (still runs though!) and I have a ton of build up from hard water. I’m going to try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Thanks for the tip!
