One piece of advice that is heard over and over again, but is truly valid, is “Always get a second opinion”. I have always found that to be the best measure to ensure good outcomes and if I have ever been tempted to slack off and just go with a first opinion, my husband ALWAYS steps in and says “Hey – did you get a second opinion?”
The value of a second opinion holds true in most facets of life whether it be medical procedures, construction work, dental care, education, etc. We moved into a new house this past winter and have been having a lot of work done inside. Some we are doing ourselves, but some things we know we should leave to the professionals. We got several estimates for remodeling our kitchen and selected a contractor who did a great job. The next thing on our list was to refinish our hardwood floors. We asked our contractor about it and he gave us an estimate. Wow – the price was HIGH! It was actually about half the cost of our entire kitchen remodel and we don’t have a lot of floor space in our house.
So, even though we had been happy with our contractor, we decided to get a second opinion. We contacted three other floor refinishing professionals and received three estimates. Not only did we find out we could get the floors refinished for less than half the price quoted by our contractor, we also found out that they could get the job done in half the time! Our floors were finished several months ago and they look beautiful!! We couldn’t be happier with the quality of the work and we are really glad that we got a second opinion.
While second opinions are important when taking care of your home, they are also important when taking care of your dental health! For example, braces for you or your child can be a huge expense and the results are something that will last a lifetime, so it’s important to become aware of all of your options. Invisalign is one of these options. This modern choice of clear braces means no more wires or brackets are required as it uses a series of virtually invisible and removable aligners to gradually move teeth over time. That means no food restrictions, being able to easily maintain health brushing habits, little interference with sports or other activities and teeth that are being straightened with most people not even knowing that treatment is going on!
Invisalign also knows the importance of a second opinion. To bring awareness, they have launched the Invisalign Second Opinion Sweepstakes & Instant Win. They are giving away $50 a day in instant win prizes through October 15th, along wit ha chance to win a $1,000 grand prize. You can enter each day until you’re a winner!
