DIY Homemade Peppermint Lip Balm with Printable Labels

Today we have something fun AND extremely useful to make – DIY Homemade Peppermint Lip Balm! With the cold, harsh winter weather we have here in Minnesota, I go through a LOT of lip balm! It’s the only thing to protect it from the dry air and cold wind and to heal it if my lips do become dry or cracked. Since it is something that goes right on my mouth, which means I am sure I end up actually swallowing a bit of it inadvertently after licking my lips, eating a snack, etc. it’s a much better idea to have a product with natural, safe ingredients.

That’s why I like this DIY Peppermint Lip Balm recipe because it uses all natural ingredients and, since you mix it up yourself, you know EXACTLY what goes into it. And, besides being perfect for everyday use, it makes a GREAT gift!! To make it extra giftable, we have printable labels you can add to the top of your tins with cute red and white designs – just right for Valentine’s Day! We have two styles of labels, one that is a simple peppermint swirl and another that clearly identifies what is inside saying “Peppermint Lip Balm“. Either style fits perfectly on Avery 8293 Round Labels.

While we put our balm in round tins, you can also choose to put it in heart-shaped tins to make it extra “Valentine-y”.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Using a small saucepan, bring water to a boil on stovetop.
  • In a glass dish or Pyrex cup, mix beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, and sweet almond oil. Place the glass dish or cup inside the pan of boiling water and melt ingredients while stirring.  This will allow the ingredients to slowly melt.  A small skewer works well for stirring.
  • Remove from heat and add about 20 drops of the peppermint essential oil. Stir.
  • Immediately pour into metal tins.
  • Print labels (if using) and affix to lids.
  • Allow the lip balm to set 24 hours before using.
