Is your Valentine a geek? If so, this is a great book to give yourself as a Valentine’s Day treat. Or, if YOU are a self-proclaimed geek, give this book to your sweetheart: “I Love Geeks: The Official Handbook” by Carrie Tucker.
Geeks are an elusive brainiac sect that went from four-eyed outcast, to the new millennium entrepreneurs to watch. No longer relegated to their mothers basement, at long last geeks are getting their due – and why not? They run the world, they’re loyal as hell, and their extreme passions can be, well hot! But for many women, geeks are as inscrutable as they are desirable. Your sherpa through geek-chic, “I Love Geeks: The Official Handbook” will guide you through the uncharted territory of Nerd-dom. From comic books and video games, to anime and science fiction, you’ll learn not only how to speak geek but how to hold your own in his galaxy that was once far, far away.
I haven’t had a chance to read the entire book yet, but I loved all the parts I did read. My husband falls into the “geek” category (but the braniac part is iffy – sorry honey!). The book is spot-on in describing the various types of geeks including Video Game Geeks, Comic Book and Graphic Novel Geeks, Manga and Anime Geeks, Film and Television Geeks, Sports Geeks, Science Fiction & Fantasy Geeks. While reading the various sections I realized that a lot of the geeks I know are a conglomeration of several/many of these categories. This book is a quick, fun read that will have you laughing out loud!
